Happy New Year!
Matte Painting UK starts 2010 with a tale of murder most foul, grave robbing and 19th century mayhem. In other words, we’re very excited to tell you that we’ve secured all the Digital Matte Painting work on John Landis’ new feature film – Burke & Hare. Due to start filming in early Feb and with an all star cast, this is sure to get your bones rattling!

We are extremely pleased to announce a brand new collaboration with the hugely experienced Senior Compositor – Ed Plant.
Ed’s distinguished career goes back fifteen years and he has worked on many high profile shows including Event Horizon, The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter 4, King Kong, Casino Royale and Inkheart to name only a few.
We have worked with Ed for many years and have always enjoyed and valued his wide experience and professionalism over many projects. Ed will now be joining Matte Painting UK as Senior 2D Consultant and he will be responsible for overseeing all our compositing and 2D requirements. We are very pleased to welcome Ed and look forward to a long and fruitfull relationship with him.

D’Artiste – Matte Painting 2 by Ballistic Publishing is now on sale.
Featuring the work of master artists Yusei Uesugi, Max Dennison and Chris Thunig, this new publication provides a wealth of tips, tricks and techniques for all aspiring Matte Artists. Including detailed tutorials, each artist describes how they got started, what is needed to make it in the industry, and what is required to produce feature quality Matte Paintings.

August 2008
2008 continues to go exceptionally well for MPUK. Having recently completed work on ‘The Hessen Affair’ in July, we have now started work on ‘The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus’ staring the late Heath Ledger and directed by Terry Gilliam. We are especially delighted to be involved in this exciting production.
In addition, our relationship with The Mill continues to grow from strength to strength. Alongside our involvement in a new commercial for Vodafone, we are also producing a series of Digital Matte Paintings for them on a new commercial for Johnnie Walker.
April 2008
So far, 2008 has been a very busy year for Matte Painting UK. In February, we started work on ‘Wanted’ – a Universal Pictures Production. This is due for release in June. During that time, we also produced a series of paintings for the charming fantasy – The Secret of Moonacre which is due in cinemas this August. In addition, we have also been busy producing work for a new advertising campaign for EuroStar.
November 2007
Max Dennison will be one of the featured artists showcasing his work and giving Masterclasses in the forthcoming publication by Ballistic Publishing: d’Artiste – Matte Painting 2. This will become available online and at selected book stores at Christmas. Max has also been signed as Visual Effects Supervisor on the feature film – Lore of the Jungle due for release at the end of 2008.
August 2007
We have just started working on the game trailer for ROCKBAND – the hugely anticipated XBox 360 game in conjunction with Passion Pictures and which is due for release in late November. We are also very busy producing environments for a new commercial by ORANGINA for French television.
